Species composition: Survey results of domestic and foreign scientists have listed 1121 animal species belonging to groups of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, etc. Pu Mat country is a place with high biodiversity.

Especially important for the fauna of Pu Mat National Park is the high diversity of endemic elements. Among them are typical species such as Hello Vao (Sus bucculenus), Saola (Pseudoryx Nghetinhensis), Great Mang (Megamuntiacus vuquangensis), Truong Son Mang (Muntiacus truongsonensis), Brown-shanked Douc langur (Pygatherix nemaeus), Yellow-cheeked gibbon (Hylobates leucogenys), Gray langur (Trachypithecus phayrei) Striped hare (Nesolagus temminsii), Striped civet (Chrotogale owstoni), Star pheasant (Rheinardia ocellate), Long-billed babbler (Jaboulleia danjoui). Thus, in terms of species conservation, Pu Mat is not only a national area but also valuable for both Laos and Indochina.
